nelsma292 Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 I purchased a comp a while back from a company for fairly cheap, and of course I got a few cheap components. Anyway, I wanna see how much difference it makes using two Modules, instead of one to utilize my DDR memory. I ran Sisoft Sanra, and it's telling me that for ram 512mb or higher, it should be Registered/buffered, and be ECC/Parity, because what I have now isn't. I'm just wondering, if I buy more ram, should I try to sell what I have, and go for 2X256, or just buy another 512 with the above mentioned stats? Thanks for your help. bigred Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 okay, fairly simple. 512mb dimms come both ways, 1 and 2 gb dimms ONLY come buffered. they're generally for servers and high end workstations (reason the opteron REQUIRES IT). So if you're gonna run 1gb or larger dimms you don't have a choice...
