HanzoRazor Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Today I woke up to the NB fan making a loud whirring noise as though one of the fans was stopping and starting. I unplugged each of my case fans to test and finally through trial and error tested the NB fan. I went into bios to verify the case fan was moving from 1500rpm to 7000rpm ever 5 seconds. So reading through the forums I've read this fan has a high rate of failure. I've had this MB approx a week... I was able to stop the whirring sound by going into bios and changing the speed at which the fan moves full rev to off at 25c and full at 50c. IMO their should be an option to disable the internal bios fan controller all together because I had the same issue with the CPU fans and case fans stopping and starting and had to plug them all directly into the PSU to keep them moving. Even though bios reads the CPU as 25c it's sort of worrying that the fan doesn't move after booting into windows

supershanks Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Bios fan control works fine for me. Think you'll find that it's made worse by the Temp reading issues that the expert board is having @ the moment. see NF4 Expert - DFI Expert CPU temp sensor reporting incorrectly? pretty sure a bios update will sort it out. luck

My temps like to hover around sub 20c-30c according to bios (I know these are wrong, thats why I removed the fans from the mobo and set them directly to the psu( so the fans are always kicking on an off so I had to switch them over and set the threshold on the chipset fan to 50c to get rid of the whirring. It would be nice if there was a bios option that simple disabled fan control all together and let them go at a certain speed.
