ledzep58 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 OK, I am back trying to figure out this memory issue. questions 1. where to read the revision level on the motherboard. 2. where to look for bios level? Also on the memory, all settings in the genie bios are from the BE site and for this motnerboard / memory combination. As stated before the only thing plugged in are: motherboard DFI nf4 SLI-DR Expert CPU AMD Opteron 165 stepping is: CCBWE 0551UPMW OCZ 2X1G Plat. 1 stick in dimm 2 Evga 6800GS CO
Limnos Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 1) look here (note image is of a Venus board, but the info for the Expert is in same location). You are looking for the R number (e.g. R0A1 in this photo) Edit...picture was too big...check out the link instead: http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/6379/v66if.jpg 2) Disable the full-screen logo in your BIOS settings (found near the bottom under Advanced BIOS settings) and then reboot. Have your finger poised on the Pause/Break button and hit it once you get the first full screen of text. Your BIOS version will be listed on the bottom left corner of your screen. Just hit Enter to continue your boot process.
ledzep58 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Thanks Limnus, I found them and this is mobo has Rev. AA0 and the BIOS is 11-02-2005. If I recall from some other threads this is an older mobo and it has issues.
Limnos Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Thanks Limnus, I found them and this is mobo has Rev. AA0 and the BIOS is 11-02-2005. If I recall from some other threads this is an older mobo and it has issues. Well, I have the same revision and had the same BIOS version (although I did flash to the new BIOS, it was not because I was having a problem with the 11-02-05 version) and I don't have any problems with this board at all. I did have some issues with my PSU and I have seen others with issues with the Seasonic PSUs and the Expert boards. What exactly is the issue you are experiencing? You can just include the link if you have already posted in another post.
ledzep58 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I have the 2 GB (2 pcs 1GB) DDR (400) PC-3200 OCZ Dual Channel Platinum (OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K). I set the genie bios up according to the BE website for this motherboard / memory combo. the issue is that when I tested one stick at a time in dimm 2, they worked. If both are in dimms 2&4 the diag. lighs show: 2,3 and4 on - which indicates CPU detected and it just sits there. also the bios is old 11-02-2005 and the rev. on the mobo is AA0 I plan to flash the bios to 12-07-2005
