suggestions on water cooling

 Hey all !

I'm looking for some suggestions on water cooling my cpu and hopefully 2 evga 7800 gtx ko's (if it's possible). I will have a x2 4800+ at my door soon so i'm looking at throwing a top notch water setup into it at the same time.

I already have a radiator, but will be lookin for some advise on the cpu block, pump, resevoir, and gpu blocks(if applicable).

thanks for your help.

But be smart and take the thermal pads off the ram before installing unlike me (caused me tns of grief before I realized what I did wrong).

The Swiftech MCP350™ 12 VDC Pump is ultra low profile but powerful: MCP350.gif

Thermal takes makes a cool drivebay resevior that I use in all my builds:

I'd like to stick w/ 1/2" so i'm thinking about the Swiftech MCP655......

they say it's adjustable from 1800 rpm to 4800 rpm......and maxed out pushes about 317 GPH. So 317 GPH = 5.28 GPM correct me if i'm wrong here....so if you want to get more silent...

4800 RPM = 5.28GPM so 2400 RPM must = 2.64GPM which yields 1800RPM = 1.98 GPM

1.98 is pretty damn good flow isn't it ?

I have a massive industrial radiator that uses 3/8" ID, but it's such a good size it shouldn't worsen my flow much at all. thoughts ?

Thanks DarthBeavis you got you self a kick butt rig too. I’m all about performance and not about gay lights and stuff like that so you might find my rig boring since you got a alienware system. I thought about it a few times but could never justify spending that kind of money on a rig. However here are some pics. :shake:

1.98 GPM? Are you a fireman wanting to put a out a fire??? :shake:

The MCP655, or Laing D5, is a great waterpump. However the little MCP355 has higher head. It doesn't matter since each one is overkill for a normal watercooling system.

The TDX waterblock and the Swiftech Apogee are right for your needs like everyone said. With a TDX my Opteron 175 dual core runs 38º C with dual prime95 at 2.75ghz.

I like the Blackice Xtreme 2 radiators, they are a huge waterflow restriction however but the results are great with them.

With the video cards Dangerden makes great gpu/ram waterblocks, however I have learned the hard way how hot Voltage regulators run in those 7800GTX and watercooling them is necesary: 95º C look bad at Rivatuner sensor as well as with an external thermometer. There are secondary options, like this tinny waterblock, that can take care of the problem... but its 1/4" fittings, you would have to create a secondary loop within your watercooling system for them so they don't restrict waterflow:

Maybe its just me and watercooling these components isn't that important... but 95º C!!! I wonder why not many people take care of these as well.

The chipset doesn't require a waterblock... but it might require a diferent heatsink. Search for Evercool on this section of the forum to lear more.
