problems hooking up 2nd generation sata drive???

Recommended Posts

I'am new to dfi mobos so be easy on me, my problems is cant get my sata 2nd generation drive to boot into windows as a primary drive, i want to make my 160gb eide drive as a back up with no windows install on it, when i first hook up the sata drive i install winxp, hit f6, install the drivers off the floppy, for both controllers, evevything was fine, but after winxp was done installing and rebooted i got a blue screen error, um still clue less to why that happen, so i install windows on the 160gb drive, with no problems at all, it found my sata drive and install the drivers np, but the funny thing is when i reboot, it wont go back into windows unless i have my windows xp cd in the drive, all i want to do is make my sata the primary drive

Hook up the sata and disconnect the IDE drive. Install windows without the F6 drivers, those are only needed if you are running a RAID array. Plug the IDE drive back in after your all set up and then format it and change the drive letter.
