stathound Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Ok, so, at the beginning of the week I posted about my PQI memory and how it wouldn't work. You guys convinced me I needed some new memory and a new "DFI Standards" Power supply. It came today, check out my sig, the new power supply and memory are there, but now, I can't set up my Memory to above 166mhz, 200 causes it to crash right before the windows xp screen, right before this screen it's supposed to say 2 things are ok, i'm not sure what those things are, but at this point the computer crashes and reboots.. everything is set to auto. Thank you for your help!
Fum Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Enable memtest and get busy with those timings. Since there isn't a single kit of Kingston on the DFI Memory Advice list, you're gonna have to play around a bit. Check the stock speed database to find others with your sticks. stathound Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 i see why they would put not recommended now, seems no timings will boot it at 200 : oh well.. guess i'll stick with it at 180, 40mhz probably wont be much of a difference.. *edit* spelling error
Fum Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I've seen guys run it, so you shouldn't just settle... it's just that it's gonna take a bit more effort. Don't give up too quickly.
markyp23 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Put on Memtest at 200FSB, then change to stated timings on chips and run memtest. It it fails, RMA it and get some better stuff.
