andyisc00l Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I just bought a DFI lanparty ultra-d as the asus premium mobo I had used for my Opteron 170 had not worked! Now, do you have to update the bios to make this work or does it come factory working....as in, do I need another persons 64 bit processor that is compatible so I can update the bios then use the opteron after cuz that would be hard for me, thanks. let me know. sorry I think I posted this question in the wrong topic I switched it to amd overclocking. boatasiaus Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 You should be fine. Likely, your board will already have the 6/23 All Bios's will recognize a dual core as a single core when first started up. I personally like the 6/23 official BIOS's. There are also several beta bios available. I would suggest reviewing these two build guides Ed Jacobson’s Build Guide and Angry Games Build Guide with Pictures
andyisc00l Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Is DFI the best mobo company? I used to think asus was on top?
Nehil Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Pah, DFI is better, in all aspects. I know that for a fact after running Asus boards for 4 years and and settled to . compared to DFI. Also no problems using that CPU and that mobo, just update BIOS and install hotfixes for Dual Core.
