krazypoloc Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Hey guys I just got a nice shiny new 20.1" monitor from the egg, and was wondering why the retards  over at EA did'nt decide to include widescreen support? I already tried the cmd line by setting a custom resolution 1680x1050 (the native res of my monitor) but before it will load up it just dumps me to the desktop. I would really like to fix this issue b/c right now the game looks like crap and it is one of my favorites. Oh here's a link for the monitor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16824116381

Fum Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Go to Program FilesEA GAMESBattlefield 2modsbf2Settings and open up VideoDefault.con with notepad. Change renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0 to renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1 Save changes and exit.

Fum Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Just got this from one of my clan mates. To set a custom resolution you need to edit the shortcut on your desktop. change the taget line to read: "C:Program FilesEA GAMESBattlefield 2BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050 Replace the 1680 and 1050 with whatever you want to run. I run 1680x1050 with my 6800gt oc. If you installed to a different path change that too. If you launch any way other than with that link it will default to whatever you set it to in game. Also don't go into video settings or it won't be active either.

Hawk454 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 The above modifications to the video.con or the shortcut launch should work fine. I am able to specify non-standard or standard window sizes using both methods. I think the shortcut method worked best. Method 1: The profile for the user that you load into (my profile says 001) is listed in "my documents" under BF2 folder. Do not edit the default profile. Video.con will list all settings used for the game. Good way to set to ultra high quality if you want (ie. texture quality since this setting changes when objects are drawn at max viewing distance). method 2: To set a custom resolution you need to edit the shortcut on your desktop. change the taget line to read: "C:Program FilesEA GAMESBattlefield 2BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050 Gutbuster that is definitely an effen nice monitor. That makes me envious.
