WakeUpDead Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Im going to make the switch to the UT RDX200 CF-DR from a UT nF4 SLI-D. I will be getting a Crossfire Ed. card soon, to go with my X1900XT, so I need to make the switch soon. Funny thing is, I really only got this board working great in the last month or so and now I am going to start all over again. I was wondering how much diffrence is there in the two boards? As for overclocking, set up, will I need any component upgrades from what I have, anything you can tell me. Thank you!
ramik Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Check this article: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mainboard...dx200cf-dr.html It is a review of this mobo, that has also a benchmark comparision between it and an NF4 Ultra-D. WakeUpDead Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Thanks ramik, wow great review, Im now a little concerned about buying this board. It seems like it may be a good idea to wait till the next generation of ATI chipset's are out. I'll wait till I get some more input, before I throw in the towel though. Thanks again ramik! Angry_Games Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 overclocking shouldnt' really be such a big concern these days as most games are gpu limited, not cpu limited take my NF4X Infinity for example...i dropped a 2800+ Sempron in it (1600Mhz), 2GB Ballistix, and a 6800GT it scores about 17,600 in 3dmark01, and 53,000 in Aquamark....but it scores 11,700 in 03 and 5300-ish in 05 and 2458 in 06 drop a 3400+ Newcastle (2400Mhz) cpu into the same rig, and the scores change to 28k in 01, 81k in Aquamark, 12,120 in 03, 5804 in 05, and I have not yet run 06 with the new cpu in it lol ie: basically games these days are not so cpu limited as they are gpu limited but I imagine the Asus boards probably clock at least a little bit...but geez you got an FX-55 @ 2600Mhz...it isn't like you need more overclock than that really (heck, you got X1900 CROSSFIRE cards!). and if you are trying to overclock only in memory... why bother...cpu mhz is what you want more than anything: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40178
WakeUpDead Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Spent the money on some very good watercooling, I will just wait the whole crossfire thing out, till they get some real good boards out there, at least a good DFI board. I have sold the crossfire card and made 30 bucks, so that wasn't bad, eBay is great, people buy stuff and dont even look at online stores to compare prices. As for the crossfire, my single XT card is overclocking so well I can wait, and if these next generation boards do what they are saying they will do, I wont need a crossfire edition card to run crossfire anyhow. Thanks all for your input!
