goldfires Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 So I want to build a system as cheap as possible! One area I'm stuck on is choosing a Mobo. There are just so many manufacturers and makes. Someone please help! I don't want to cheese out on the MoBo. I want it to be Socket 939 with onboard video and pci-express. I don't care whether Asus, DFI, MSI or whoever makes it. I do want it to be cheap though with these features. Suggestions? Thanks in advance to all who give their input. - Ryan
red930 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 onboard vid? look at the radeon xpress 200 or the geforce 6100 mobos on the egg.. post the ones u like and we'll analyze EDIT y do u want a mobo with onboard vid if u have an x850? and y do u want a new mobo? a8n-sli will work fine.. lol anyways u could pick up a dfi-ultra and mod it to sli--its freakin easy. just connect the dots all for 110 on the egg. and u mite be hindered with the kingston ram, kingston sucks on dfi mobos. if u arent going to replace the ram, i would not recommened dfi. but thats ur decision. the mem sticky says kingston ram is not recommended for dfi boards. supraboytt Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 dUDE this is a DFI forum, obviously we are going to be abit biased. So heres my recommendation: DFI-NF4D mod to SLI and there you go!
goldfires Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 lol... no no... This computer is for my family. I've got 2 younger brothers still in school. I'm trying to help out my mom since she is totally computer illiterate and needs a computer for the boys. Oh, and for those of you making mobo suggestions, please list prices as well. Thanks, - Ryan

I appreciate the attempt to help, although, this MoBo does not have onboard video. Please try again Also, SLI is not important to me. As a matter of fact, I'll probably never go SLI with this system. Guest Milkshake Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Id go for a cheap 939 from ebay, any 939 mobo that works should be fine. I use to build comps with the cheapest parts I could find, never had a problem. Ebay is your friend.
