ack, stuck on a different indicator light now

Recommended Posts

so one of my fans came unplugged from my fan controller and i rushed to crank the other one(they are my radiator fans) before i plugged it back in. after plugging it back in i looked back to my monitor and it was black...so i shut it down. now i don't get any display, also i believe the first boot after this my rad fans didn't come on, next they came on but rpms went up and down, now they are steady. i then checked my indicator lights, at start up they did 4,3,0 and repeated a few times then 4,3,2,1 long beep (numbers being how many lights were on). did a chort cmos clear, 4,3,0 repeat / 4,3 long beep. then a bit longer cmos clear and now back to the first scenario. so it's hanging at the graphics card...makes no sense.

please and thank you ;)

k so after clearing the cmos for ~13 hours it does the whole 4,3,0 repeated then 4,3,2,1 long beep bit but at the beep my radiator fans turn off, so i then of course shut it down. no clue what's going on. hopefully my new psu which is supposed to arrive tomorow will remedy this.

I'm having a very similar problem, one of the red lights cuts off then hangs. I'm blaming it on my secondary power supply dying (Powmax 400w). I'm leaving my mobo battery out of it's socket for tonight.. Damn I'm getting sick of RMA's. Just like you I got a new PSU (My primary one in the sig) and it's not correcting the problem.

ummm so update. my new antec true power 2 550 eps12v showed up and i put it in after doing ~14 hours of cmos clearing. same problem still, starts up, no display, indicators do 4,3,0 repeated then 4,3,2,1 long beep but i then noticed after the long beep as before when i plugged my radiator fans into the mobo they shut off, well my NorthBridge chipset fan shuts off too, so i guess all fan leaders on the mobo shut off then, maybe other things too...it still is running just the fan leaders shut off, the indicator light don't change or anything. so what's going on?

This isn't going to solve anything but dont the fan headers on the expert, well most of them, temperature controlled?

If so, it may be that your temps aren't high enough to warrant the fans being on. Won't solve anything but may ease your mind.

k, so i decided to try out an old pci graphics card and it worked, my 6800gs is not being detected in either of my pci-e 16x slots. it was just working yesterday or the day before... also it takes forever for it to register my pci graphics card, a good 15 seconds probabaly.

it probably takes longer to find your pci/display because youve got it to disply pcie first, usually take a a bit longer.

set it to pci init first, then see if it can run a simple 2d game, then slap in another pcie card. does your gs need a 6 pin for power?
