HanzoRazor Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Do I need to have the module installed in order to get sound out the SPDIF?
red930 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Nope. Just select SPDIF as the output in the audio software and your good to go.
HanzoRazor Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Oh because I didn't install it and it now says there is no audio device on the computer. What should I do now? I need SPDIF.
HanzoRazor Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 xp doesn't detect any audio device. Does this mean the SPDIF is broken? I tried installing the nvidia audio drivers as well as realtek but nothing happens.
HanzoRazor Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Ok I notice there is a red jumper behind the two spdif ports. The manual doesn't say what it is though. Does this have anything to do with it? I have AC'97 enabled in the bios.
red930 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 On page 42 of the downloadable manual, it shows that you need to jumper JP52 to 2-3 to enable the nForce4 SLI SPDIF out, as shown in the following pic: As far as I know, the same information is in the manual. Possibly overlooked it?
HanzoRazor Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 ah I didn't know. It's not in the quick install manual. I installed the module anyways now but I don't get any sound.
red930 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Once you installed the Karajan audio module, did you uninstall the drivers, reboot, then reinstall the drivers? If not, do so. After the reboot, you can go into the audio drivers and set it for SPDIF out.
HanzoRazor Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Ok I've removed the module, set the jumpers as advised but it says no audio device detected again. I removed the nforce audio driver and tried the realtek driver but it hasn't fixed it.
HanzoRazor Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 With the module installed windows detects audio but my reciever detects nothing. I've made sure to set it to the proper coax for input.
red930 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Which port is the cable connected to on the motherboard? Should be the yellow plug next to where the Karajan module sits.
HanzoRazor Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Yes it's the yellow one. I'm going to try the DFI realtek drivers now.
