R/\ZV/\N Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Hello, First of all I want to salute everybody! Second... My system is in my signature. My problem: I buy recently a second hand 2x512 OCZ DDR433 EL Platinum Limited Edition from a friend (passional overclocker) with ~300$. And this two memory stick come with old-school BH-5 and 6.3.2.2 default timmings at 2.8V. I know that type of OCZ memory still one of the best memory, but I don't know how to overclock them. The 2 stick of DDR is cappable to 280MHz at 5.2.2.2 with 3.4V (on DFi nf4 Ultra-D). I try a lot of combination of settings. I read a lot of infos according to my 754 DFi nf3 250Gb mobo on this site (that is great!). My CPU easyly cappable to 2500MHz at 2x250 with 1.5V. But when I try to push my OCZ above to default speed and timmings the Memtes86 return a lot of error to me. I rise voltage too up to 3.1V max from my mobo. I change the memory slot: 1 and 2 then 1 and 2. And nothing. Memtest86 error from the second 5 test. Settings from BIOS according to 2400MHz (2x220): FSB - 220 LDT - x3 CPU/FSB Ratio - x10 Vcore - 1.325 x 113% CHPv - 1.7 vDIMM - 2.8 (I try 2.9/3.0/3.1) DRAM Frequency Set - 200 (DRAM/FSB:1/01) - with above config = 2400Mhz Command Per Clock (CPC) - Enable CAS Latency Control (Tcl) - 2 RAS to CAS delay (Trcd) - 2 Min RAS active time (Tras) - 5 Row precharge time (Trp) - 2 Row Cycle time (Trc) - 12 Row refresh cyc time (Trfc) - 14 Row to Row delay (Trrd) - 3 Write recovery time (Twr) - 2 Write to Read delay (Twtr) - 2 Read to Write delay (Trwt) - 2 Refresh Period (Tref) - 1552 Write CAS Latency (Twcl) - 1 DRAM Bank interleave - Enable DQS Skew Control - Increaase skew DQS Skew value - 125 DRAM Drive Strength - 4 Read Preamble - 5.5ns IdleCycle Limit - 256 Cycles Dinamic counter - Enable Bypass max - 7x R/W Queue Bypass - 16x Max Async Latency - 7ns 32 byte granularity - Disable (8 Bursts) At this settings Memstat fail. PLEASE HELP TO OBTAIN A DECENT SPEED FROM THIS MOMORY (440-450MHz at 5 or 6.2.2.2 at 2.9-3.0V and I would be satisfy). Many thanks. P.S. A link from the same 2 OCZ stick is HERE and HERE
Guest Neo Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 That was my RAM. My friend here made a slight mistake. They can do 270MHz 2-2-2-5-1T at 3.4V. Above that I didn't go, since I did not have any time. That's why I sold them in the first place I attach some pics and screenies. 216MHz@[email protected] and 225MHz@[email protected]. And the [email protected]. My guess is that the lack of Drive Strenght 8 and of Data Strenght in the NF3 BIOS is the key. I didn't have the sticks for much time, and my lack of time made it almost impossible to test them throughly... P.S.: the links in my friend's post (the ones towards XS) are to a couple of sticks that are the same model his are, not the same sticks
