Extigy Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 i currently have Corsair Memory TWINX1024 - 3200XLPRO XMS3200 (2 x 512mb sticks) in a nf4 sli-dr and am looking to add more ram. Seeing as not many places stock these memory modules any more, was wondering what was best to get to work with these ? would the motherboard support a 1 x 1024 stick of ram with the ram i am using currently Thanks
red930 Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 No, you don't want to have 2x512 along with 1x1024 in any of these DFI boards. Bad idea! Go out and buy yourself a pair of 1024 2GB kit like i did. Make sure you sell your old ones if you're short on money, that's what i did. Good Luck. Not only the 2x1024 2GB will overclock much better than having 4x512 but you can still use the 1T which isn't much in games, but alot in benchmarking. I hope this helps... Newegg.com has some of the best memory under $200 for a pair of 2GB kits...

red930 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 nice.. these are the lowest prices you will find.. other than that your other option is GSKILL, which incorporates samsung chips in all of its ram... corsair isnt really recommended for dfi boards btw.. The G.Skill UCCC RAM is on sale as well, for $146 AR. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...CMP=OTC-B1zrat3 As far as Corsair goes, I had a difficult time with mine. Wish that I had known before I bought it.

watsonte Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I know this might be a little more expensive than you were wanting to go but in my opinion MUSHKIN is the way to go for a DFI board. The Redline Series is the best Ram I have ever used...I have gone through 3 Corsair XMS kits, 1 Geil Kit, some Kingston, and some Crucial Ballistix and Mushkin seems to out perform them all. Redline can take up to 3.5v also under warranty if im not mistaken allowing you to get unbelievable speeds at good timmings... See my sig for my Redline numbers...I think there not bad others might be able to do better but really I think its great stuff. red930 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 i concur.. cept on the egg a 2gb kit costs 330 i aint shellin out that much cash thank u very much XD redlines use infineon c die chips.. correct?
johneverd Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 It looks like the Mushkin modules in watsonte's signature are Winbond UTT (CH-die) based, like the OCZ VX series. Awesome stuff! The newer Mushkin 2GB Redline kit are Infineon C-die (CE-6) based.
