I never use any of the adhesive padding that comes with any of the heatsinks (such as with the XP-120 from Thermalright).

I have a clear, non-conductive, non-adhesive plastic sheet which I cut to size and use for the spacer between the retainer and motherboard. Works like a charm.

ya

next time for sure

one thing i find odd......

schyte has for sale a backplate kit for replacement....and does not have glue...just soft rubber.....

i wonder why some people has to find the hard way that stuff like this will happen

i just lost 150 euros....plus 70 kms to buy a new one......parking....and my bench session started at 3 pm....we had 4 hours to bench instead of 10.....

i am happy that we didnt fry the cabye 0540.....but i feel for my poor dfi.....i have found a guy who will try to rescue the mobo.... bring her back to life.....he is very good with the soldering iron and a heck of an overclocker :D

lets hope for the best

Looney Glue? It took chunks off the board man, geez. Lucky you didn't zap yourself when you turned it on, LOL!

Did you use a heatgun/hairdryer on it?

nope

and yes....today we thought of that....i litle to late....

we killed the mobo.....but the the friggin glue was guilty too....and i cant help myself getting frustrated cause i have benched like 7 or 8 diferent cpus in my prometeia and several mobos....overvolting a lot the poor cpus.....assembling the prommy.....and believe me that can be tricky....sealing .......removing seal string from the mobo.....we never killed anything....zero....even with some suicide combinations with vcore and vdimm.....

and now i kill a dfi cause the friggin glue is to strong......

aaaargh

sorry for the inflamated words...

;)

Maybe they found out what it would do to a motherboard don't you think? The glue is to keep the backplate on i assume, but no screws or anything to keep it tact just glue? That is so weird man, i hope things turn out better for you bro. I really hope that guy you found can fix it, so you can turn around and sell it to earn your money back! :)

Why not leave the backing paper on? I've used numerous motherboards and heatsinks where the backplate had a pad with adhesive. I've always kept the backing paper on and everything is just fine. I'm sorry for your lose but...

Man, this is an unbareable loss to the world! Another Utra-D, another brave warrior. I've never liked that ninja - there was something that bothered me. Now there is something that's frustrating me! I have a lot of friends using the ninja and this thread goes directly to them in an e-mail. Enough!

A minute of mourning silence!:(

supposively this was a problem with the glue being too strong with the first few batches of the release of the ninja. was this recently purchased or have you had it for a while?
