Bonesdad Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I have read in the past others having problems with 4x512 on the Ultra D. Is this still the case? Is it restricted to Corsair Value RAM only? I currently have 2x512 and want to go up to 2 gb while memory price is low. Any advice is appreciated
Oceanborn Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 You can, but make sure you have the option "command per clock" disabled in the BIOS, BEFORE you install the new memory and that you don't have your memory overclocked....apparently overclocking is very limited when you have 4 sticks of ram ... supershanks Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Yoy realise that with AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester core your memory will deafult to 333 rather than 400 as well as run at 2T. To get it running @ 3200 is a 20% overclock which as Oceanborn says is pretty hard. You stand more chance of making 4x512mb run when using the same modules & chips. By it's very nature the chips used in value memory vary so unless you bought both pairs at the same time from the same source so maxing the chance of getting them out the same batch, you may end up with memory chips thta wont work to well together. As you said yourself well memory prices are low you'd be beter looking @2x1Gb kits. luck
E E Magenis Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Will it also go to 333mhz with any cpu or just the winny cores?
red930 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Will it also go to 333mhz with any cpu or just the winny cores? It will default to ddr333 on lower-end cores, toledo and san diego for sure default to ddr400, others do as well.

Bonesdad Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Thanks for the replies...OK...decided to go with 2x1GB and sell the old Corsair VS 2x512. Are the 1GB sticks of Corsair VS decent enough? If I overclock in the future, it'll likely be a pretty lite one...anything wrong with using this memory?
UncleDavid218 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Yeah, it's value RAM. Spend a little extra on G.Skill or OCZ for best results.
supershanks Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 if you can manage it there are better value memory around Not aclue where u are so G-skill 2x1Gb compared with Corsair 2GB DDR Value Select PC3200 CAS3.0 Kit (2x1GB) For about £34 more i think the g-skill will give you better performance. luck
Bonesdad Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I thought I had read somewhere that the Corsair is not "listed" for the Ultra-D...is this true?

supraboytt Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I thought I had read somewhere that the Corsair is not "listed" for the Ultra-D...is this true? Yeh Corsair value isnt listed on the "recommended" list of ram for dfi boards. However Im running 2x512 right now and its workin fine.
