mung3r Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 See this closed thread to catch up on the details: Removed Audigy 2 ZS, Machine Check Exception goes away!?!? I just installed an Enermax 620W Liberty PSU and still get the same behavior - BSOD machine check exception during gameplay. Anyone have any suggestions now that I've ruled out the PSU? mung3r Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I switched to "Standard PC" to see if it makes a difference and it seems to have solved my BSOD. However, I must say that this sort of solution is not very satisfying since this should all work properly with ACPI enabled on modern/recent hardware. I don't even remember how long ago I had a PC that didn't use ACPI in WinXP. Since my setup worked with ACPI and the Audigy ZS uninstalled, I'll blame the Audigy . mung3r Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Damn, another side effect of running as "Standard PC" is that I have to hit the power switch after WinXP shuts down. Bummer.
mung3r Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Looks like this "Standard PC" setup has it's downside when you start adding more devices. ACPI seems to be the only solution when you run out of IRQs. I tried going back the ACPI setup but I still get the same crashing problem when playing games. I found this article: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,48708,00.asp Seems to describe exactly what I'm going through. Jeez, I though Creative left all of this sound card crashing stuff in the past.

skEwb Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I just use Audigy 4 Pro drivers for mine and put it on the last slot! I have an A2 btw. I can use ACPI just fine and no crashes. Here is the info on converting to A4: http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=78049 and http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=75905 good luck Also search the forum for the 620w liberty, I had to RMA mine as it was either DOA or it just refused to work with SLI-DR Expert
