old_geekster Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I would make two partitions; 10-15GB for OS and the second for apps. I have a WD 80GB (7200 rpm w/8MB cache) drive with that setup. I put the virtual memory on the second partition (1024MB Initial and 1024MB Maximum). Does having the virtual memory on the second partition help?--I don't know, but it doesn't seem to slow things down. I realize that the experts recommend having the virtual memory on a separate drive, however, my backup drive is a WD 100GB (7200 rpm w/2MB cache). My belief is, if the second drive is slower, why bother.
