jaredmt Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I have a Turion 64 MT 40, which should be clocked at 2.2GHZ. Windows shows core speed at 800MHZ. Both BIOS and Windows properly recognize the proper CPU type. Trying to figure out why. Thoughts??? Thanks! JT
Lackadaisical Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 My guess is that cool and quiet is on. Check your bios and see if it is enabled.
jaredmt Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Sadly for me, not that easy. Cool & Quiet is disabled. I set it to Auto (only other choice) just for fun, still clocked at 800mhz. I've seen where that can fix the issue, as it seems to be starting the processor in its power saving mode. No luck here. Other thoughts anyone? Sure hate to have to replace the board just because the BIOS doesn't play nice w/ my CPU.
RGone Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Manually set the correct multiplier and memory speed. RGone...
divided Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 have you tried running prime or occt and then check the speed? turions auto underclock and will always drop its speed during "idle" times .
jaredmt Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I would love to manually set the multiplier, though I don't see any BIOS option for it. Memory I do have clocked for DDR400. I've not tried anything to stress the system & then check the speed, though given non-official support for the CPU features, I don't expect much. Fair idea though .. I'll probably give it a whirl & see what she says.
jaredmt Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Update: I have an app called "CBID" (Central Brain Identifier), which let's you modify the multiplier. Seems to be working. Running RightMark CPU Clock Utility shows the changes in speed that CBID claims it's making, so it ought to be a legit change. MyCompute properties still shows 800mhz, but Windows probably checks only on boot. Can anyone verify that? All other Windows utils I've tried verify the changed clock speed. Angry_Games Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 2.2Ghz - 200x11 (2200Mhz) when using ANY mobile cpu, you MUST manually set the voltage and cpu multiplier look in the "Genie BIOS" section of the BIOS for these options. if you cannot find them, post back and I will boot up the K8M800 and show you where they are (but they are right in front of your eyes if you just go into your BIOS and look...) learners permit Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Every DFI board I've run my mobiles in has to be manually setup for the core speed via HTT and Multiplier and Vcore. BTW do yourself a favor and manually set shutdown temp to 60C.
valnar Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I have a DFI board with a Turion 2.2Ghz CPU (MT40). I too have been fighting how to get CnQ working properly on it. It defaults to 800Mhz if all the BIOS settings are left on AUTO. I've hardcoded the multiplier to 11x but had a question on the VID. 1) Should I set the VID to 1.2V or leave it at AUTO and adjust the VCore special thing to 126%, which is about the same? 2) Does either method affect the accuracy of CPU monitoring programs such as Rightmark or CPU-Z? 3) Can I then use Rightmark to make adjustments down? -Robert
Angry_Games Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 you need to MANUALLY SET ALL SETTINGS for mobile cpu's as has been mentioned before no desktop motherboard from DFI supports mobile/dtr cpu's officially because AMD says we are not to support them officially...but they do work, they just have to be manually set as for C&Q...I have no idea if it works on a mobile/dtr cpu because I am always overclocking which means it must be disabled 2. rightmark and cpu-z are not to be used to measure voltage or temps as they are not meant to measure from the specific probes/sensors used on each individual board 3. never use software to adjust any hardware/bios setting...you will find out the hard way that this can severely mess up your system and even destroy some hardware
Alienwhere Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Looks like ur gonna have to break out the mobo angry one and show da rookies where itz @ Im interested to see how their turions clock anyway Ive seen quite a few go pretty high.
