i want to order a 2nd 7800 GT. will it matter if i dont get an exact d

I got an EVGA 7800GT but thats all i rember. id like to order an axact duplicate model as the one i already have. but new egg has 4 models from EVGA with only slight diferances(mainly memory speed i guess)would it matter if i ordered a model that is slightly different thanthe orriginal? and how do i tell exactly wich EVGA card i have in my syste? hears a cut/past off the display tab in my system information window.

I know that you must make sure both cards have the same bios, but am not sure about the rest

they both have to be the same core(gt, gtx) other than that it dosnt matter with the new bios. In the past it had to be the same manufacture and all that.

Any 7800GT should work, just make sure you are using 8x.xx Forceware drivers. 7x.xx Forceware drivers needed identical cards to work in SLI.

but if u really wanna know ur series, there a sticker on the back of the card. saying 518 or 517 or 516 wutever.... thats the series.

Question: I have a Evga 6800gt pci-e which they have discontinued. could I get a 6800gt from another company inorder to go SLI ? forgive my for jumping on your thread Grunt_Style.

No. As others have said, as long as your using current drivers than there is no need as long as it is a 7800GT.

 

Kandoo - yes, it would work. However, unless you want to "have" SLI, you'd be better off with a 7800GT for a little bit more.
