grimble Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 My 2x1g set of Crucial Ballistix failed me last month, as they have for almost everyone on here... so I had them RMA'd, thinking I just got unlucky with defective sticks. Later on though (while waiting for the RMA), I read there is nearly a 100% failure rate on all of them and the newer sticks aren't doing anything different. So I just got my new ones in, and rather than risk corrupting the data on my HD's again, I decided to call newegg and ask for a different set of PC4000. Thankfully, newegg agreed to allow an exchange for equal or greater value. It seems I'm stuck with these choices: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227225 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820146034 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820146397 (What's the difference between the two mushkin?) and these... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021 I suppose I'll use the remaining cash to order a game or something, What would you guys choose for a LANPARTY ULTRA-D ? I've got $296 toward w/e I want
Temujin Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 G.Skill PC4000, or Mushkin Redline, Corsairs are randomly picky but can work stable after more tuning. As long as its name brand and more up to date, you have great odds it will work fine. I happen to have read G.Skill loves DFI and Opterons. so thats how I bought.
