mrtell Report post Posted February 15, 2006 Is it worth buying the Venus over any of the other DFI boards? New to DFI Money not an issue so please do not qoute price. Is it an updated Expert with a lot of the issues resolved? thanks

arklab Report post Posted February 16, 2006 Hardest thing will be GETTING one! Do a search for "venus" - there is a link to DFI with the specs and a few places where someone has the board. My guess on price - Start with the Expert at $200. Add $100 for fancy box. Add $100 for "hand built" and all solid state caps. Add $100 for "Limited Edition" only 1000 made worldwide. Add $100 for Dealer mark-up (look at what happened to Opteron prices!) Pay something like $600. On the up side, let the feeding frenzy hit a peak. Go to Ebay and sell for $2000 to some kid whos dad just bought him his second Ford GT. Take the money and buy an Expert, Opty, PC Power & Cooling 1K PSU, etc, etc. Or get an Ultra D, hand picked lucky chip - and embarse me!
Angry_Games Report post Posted February 16, 2006 if you can find a venus and buy it, let me and Rgone know because we don't have one nor any info on when they will be available
mrtell Report post Posted February 16, 2006 Well, gone and done it. Ordered one. It is on pre order, due in on march the 6th. £220 Got to get the rest of my kit togeather now lol. Not easy to get the OCZ psu's where I live so I was thinking of perhaps the Enermax 600, any comments? going to pair it up with the G.Skill 2GB HZ as well I think. mrtell Report post Posted February 16, 2006 Decided the enermax would be no good because it does not have an 8 pin EPS. maybe the FSP Epsilon 600W. Or should I try to get the OCZ 520W to be sure. Will the Venus have a cold boot issue, will the Venus be picky about which PSU it likes??? Who knows??? lol.
