d3bruts1d Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 Every setting is gray? Just the date/time is gray? What settings are you trying to change?
phatslacker Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 all the speed changes are grey. like the fbs.
d3bruts1d Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 See the option for CPU speed? Can you change that one? - If so, set it to manual... If you can't change that, then that's a new one to me.... ASUS isn't known for locking stuff down in the BIOS.
phatslacker Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 I took another look at the bios screen. The frequency multiple is grey and set at 22x. The external frequency is grey and set at 100. the vcore is grey and set at 1.5. I can change the ddr voltage and agp voltage. Psywar Posted June 28, 2002 Posted June 28, 2002 yeah I would look for a spot to change it from Automatic to Manual
phatslacker Posted June 28, 2002 Posted June 28, 2002 When the computer boots i hit del key and enter AwardBios setuputility. Am i in the right place?
d3bruts1d Posted June 28, 2002 Posted June 28, 2002 Yup... that's the BIOS... now go to the section that has all the FSB/Memory/CPU options, and set the CPU speed (may be labled differently) to Manual... that'll allow you to modify the other sections... phatslacker Posted June 29, 2002 Posted June 29, 2002 thanks, I figured it out. the company who put my computer togeather had the motherboard on jumper setings instead of jumper free. I increased the fsb from 100 to 102 and got 20 mhz woho. what is a safe amound for stock intess heatsink and fan?
Eon_Blue_Apocalypse Posted June 29, 2002 Posted June 29, 2002 i'm using the stock hsf and it's working fine. i've only gotten up to like 58C and that's with the vcore all the way up. you should be fine. is your P4 a northwood? oh ya, the stock fan has to be the quietest fan i've ever heard... Blakhart Posted June 30, 2002 Posted June 30, 2002 Find the mobo manual and read up on the jumpers.
