Sli wire just died

ok so i got my Delta fan in today (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/de12tfexhisp.html) and i plug it into the 4 pin molex that my side intake fan was plugged into, and everything is running fine for about 10 minutes then my modem and my computer turn off, so i turn the computer back on and i get no display on the monitors. so i clear the cmos just by moving the jumper for 15 seconds, didnt work, so i did the 10 minute one and still didnt work, so i re routed alot of my wiring so i could use my other Sli power connector and it worked fine... my question is.. did this beast of a fan kill the wire and why just that one plug why not several others? should i plug the fan back in or just say screw it and stay with what i had? i was running 2.65gz at about 90F idle, so with this fan i was hoping for 2.8..

Um... Do NOT Plug that fan into your motherboard. I'm surprised you didnt fry the fan circuits with that thing, it draws 29 watts, our fan circuits combined are only rated something near 7. And you plugged it INTO the four-pin floppy drive connector????

LOLLLL nooo, i plugged it into a regular 4 pin molex from the power supply, im thinking maybe it drew too much power off that rail and killed that sli wire, but the otehr sli wire is fine, this is why im confused and thinking maybe it was just a coincidence that it decided to die all of a sudden

yeah i dont really know what to call it, but i call it "sli wire" its just the 6 pin connector for my video card, my psu supports SLI so thats just what i called it, it has two of the 6 pin black connectors... i can take a picture if you need me to

It's a pretty beefy fan. But, very doubtful that it could have killed your system.

I'm not very familiar with your PSU, but if it in fact has multiple +12v rails, try and find an empty rail (not hooked up to anything else) and see if it works.

yeah i rewired it all last night and managed to use two extensions so that all my drives are on one rail , and just that fan is on its own rail and so far so good. im going to try tonight to get everything else hooked up on that rail with the fan and hope for the best, cuz the way i have it right now thats the only fan hooked up. i wish my PSU didnt have so many sata connectors or maybe i can get some converters for those and id be in business

What model of Delta do you have? 29 watts? I have the EFB1212le and according to their specs it only draws 1.92w and .16 amps. I don't see how you could burn a PCI-E rail on this power supply by overloading a different molex rail, not likely, but anythings possible.

Wow, I just read your other post and saw what model you have. That thing pulls an unbelievable 29.40w and 2.45 amps, theoretically it shouldn't cause a problem, but still. That has got to be loud. I would consider . canning that thing and getting one of the low speed tri-blades. They move a ton of air and are reasonably quiet and pull a hell of a lot less watts and amps.

honestly the sound doesnt bother me at all, i used to have a 92mm tornado back in the day and it was 56dB and i slept probly 5 feet away from it, and now i have this fan which is 65dB and its still not bothering me, its been about two nights in a row and it hasnt disturbed me one bit. i might change to a different fan down the road but i wanna see what i can do with this fan before changing it out.

Why did you open two threads, none of them belongs to correct section? One is under modifications, other under overclocking - ask one of the mods to merge two threads and put under correct section like nf4 or off-topic. This will help you cuz more people might hit ur thread.
