Ultra-D USB2.0 Ports..

Recommended Posts

Hmm.. I plugged in my MP3 Player today, windows seen it, and then told me the device could perform faster if I hooked it upto USB2.0 ports...

I clicked on the bubble to see a list of avalible 'HI-SPEED USB PORTS' or whatever and it said...

"There are no Hi-Speed USB host controllers installed on this computer."

wtf, i just re-installed windows and this ultra-d board, i'm sure, is suppose to have usb2.0

Ah.

Yesterday I tried doing the uninstall of all devices with USB in their name in the Device Manager. Then after I restarted, windows seen the USB again but installed them as OpenHCD (1.1) devices rather than Ehanced (2.0).

What exactly should I try now. I'm running XP w/ SP2.

Searching is only as effective if those who have posted spell and use the same terminology as you do. Key point is spelling.

However, even so, I have found the search function here to be greatly less then satisfactory in returned results. I usually end up going to google, and many times it returns links back to here :)

As for his trouble, ah oh uhm... my XP (sp2) doesn't appear to have issues, and I simply installed it, with the latest nForce drivers from nVidias website.

Just a hunch but I believe if you go to your usb controllers in your hardware device manager USB properties (right click on MyComputer, hardware....etc. etc.) if you find the controller that says 'enhanced'....and update the driver for that, you will have enabled USB2.0.

GL.

I had the same problem with my rig and the fix is to simply install SP2 and then install the drivers from the DFI CD that came along with the mobo (the drivers available on the DFI website will also work). Using the DFI CD installation/setup program may also work, but I have had mixed results when using it (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't).

Well....

After reading your replies a few times, I found the USB 2.0 Drivers on the DFI CD.

Do realise that they were not shown to me under USB on the Autostart Driver installation wizard. I had to explore the CD to find them...

I got them installed, but it was then showing two seperate USB trees in the device driver. So I tried the tip YYZ2112 gave me, and Updated the driver for the new Enhanced Host Controller, windows done somethings and the two trees consolidated.

Now when I plugin my Dell DJ windows doesn't make a non-High Speed port complaint but I'm still not sure if I'm totally done... need a way to check.

Thanks for your help guys!

Okay, I had the same problem and I search the forum and found other people had the same problem. I had to uninstall all usb devices from the device manager.

I made sure all usb was unplugged. I reboot and plug in one usb. Windows took over and install 2.0 for me. It might have done it before I plug one in.

You should have only one tree for usb, if not uninstall all of them. If you have more than one then it is not right. You do not need the one on the cd. That will only screw it up.
