bigzorro Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 when you want to oc it more, get watercooling... after that removing the ihs could bring you lower temps also...

puma99dk| Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Is there a question or a problem you have? question i saw some have give opteron 148 1.6xxv for hit 3ghz+ that's good or bad v? when you want to oc it more, get watercooling... after that removing the ihs could bring you lower temps also... honestly bigzorro i'm a bit a afraid to get watercooling for my system. what's happen if the watercooling start leaking???? I like fruit roll ups. Anyway whats your point?? i what my Opteron to hit 3ghz+ SeanDude05 if that's possible. at http://wiki.extremeoverclocking.com/wiki/Opteron_Steppings i see alle opteron (single core) with stepping "CAB2E All weeks are hitting about 3.0ghz+" how can i get my one to do that? silence Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 No overclock is guaranteed.............. You'll probably need a bit more voltage. Try up to 1.55V, that should be ok if your cooling is semi-decent.
Guest sealion Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 With my xp90 heatsink I got 47-49c full load but 3ghz @ 1.55vcore was not stable for more than a minute under prime. My new thermaltake big typhoon keeps the cpu at 45c and under full load now I'm priming at 3ghz 1.55vcore for the past 4 hours. So your temps might be the problem; that or the cpu has reached its max.
puma99dk| Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 i don't think my cpu had reached max jet but maybe my Zalman CNPS 7700-cu can cool it. at 1.55v i can only get 2972mhz stabil at idle with my zalman at 2,9ghz it's 33-35 °C at everest ultimate 2006
Dave_Sz Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 No, that 7700 is crap.
EdLSmith Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 I haven't had a 40C since switching to Water. I occasionally go to 1.6 /1.65 but seldom get an improvement over 1.5. If I were using Phase then I might try higher but till then I see no need to place perfectly good chips at risk.
Transonic Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 If you don't mind me asking, what bios settings are you running? I have the same stepping and I'm having problems OCing.
