Going to upgrade my memory

What are you looking to do ? Get better gaming performance or go for max overclock ? For better gaming, go for 2x1Gb. The newer sets out now have nice tight timings and good overclocking ability, however, it looks like you have a Clawhammer (?) core and you will probably need to run a RAM divider as your HTT increases.

If all you want is overclocking head room, consider TCCD. A number of people here are running TCCD RAM with great results. Plus, this board was designed with TCCD and BH-5 RAM in mind. At the time this board came out, TCCD was the newest thing.

Whelp, for ~$300-330, you have the Mushkin Redlines EB PC4000 or the OCZ EB PC4000. Both sets run 3, 3,2,8 timings at stock ratings. Both are the Infineon CE-6 chips. What I really liked about these RAM chips is that from 200 -225'ish, the CE-6 chips will run at 2.0, 3, 2, 5 timings. I'm running mine that way at 220 FSB. The only draw back to the Infineon CE-6 chips is that FSB speeds >260, they are said to not be 3D stable when run 1:1. My Claw can't clock that high with a 1:1, so I went for high cpu cycles and run the RAM with tight timings with a 166 divider.

For ~200-250, there is OCZ 3200 at 2.0,3,2,5 timings. Your overhead may vary, but they are nice tight timimgs for not a lot of $ and perform well. I forget what chips these are. They could be Infineon CE-5(?), not sure.

For about the same price are the UCCC chips RAM. These kits are usually the sets with 3,4,4,8 or 3,3,3,8 timings. Generally from what I read, they can have nice overhead, but with looser timings. People that use these sets can generally run their cpu's from 250-270 HTT on a 1:1 basis. OCZ makes these, Mushkin, G Skill.

For me, I wasn't real sure how high I could overclock my cpu and RAM. I knew that I could defintely get 12x220, so I went for RAM that I could get tighter timings with. I have not been able to get 10x250 at 1:1 memtest stable, so I run a 10 multi with a 166 divider. I settled in at 10x264x3 on a 166 divider, so the RAM is running at 220, with tight timings. Performance is excellent. My machine is mostly a gaming machine and the RAM I chose definitely performs.

Very good forum, people pushing their rigs pretty hard. Just be careful of some of the RAM company techs that are posting overclocking RAM results. Some of the results are from hand picked modules from a pool of 20 sticks. Cold day I can pick up 20 2x1G sets and pick the best overclocking modules from them ! But overall, you can get an idea of how the average set you buy from Newegg or any retailer will run.

Good Luck !
