Why can't I match Angry's speed on a San Diego 4000+

Given that I have almost the same primary hardware items as Angry, why can I not obtain 240x12 on a San Diego 4000+ San Diego. I don't have any hardware items that I believe that would cause me to max out at 233x12. In additon to that, I can't obtain 2.8 by lowering the multiplier. Not even 270x10 is an option. I have my voltage way up to 1.6 (My new CPU cooler runs my CPU VERY cool , although is extremaly noisy) and my Ram voltage up to 2.8. Loose ram settings have not helped.

So why can Angry hit 240 and I max out at 233? Out of desperation I copied the BIOS setting almost exactly (I have a different brand of ram, but still high quality ram though would allow me to up my HTT to 300)

All gear is not created equal-just because one 4000+ can oc like that doesn't mean yours can. Doesn't mean theres anything wrong with your though, I'm sure it does 2.4GHz just fine like its supposed to. To get the max out of your all you can do is a trial and error appraoch found in the overclocking guide, copying and pasting other people's settings generally won't work.

Somehow you can't combine ultra high cpu speed with heavy overclocked memory controller on the latest SD .

Bigtoe also made a post about this experience on bleedingedge regarding SD's with rev e.

I have to run 2900mhz , 11*264 with 180 divider , and 3000mhz , 10*300 with 166 or 133.

Both clocks only needs 1.50v vcore in bios .

Lower the cpu max clock and high mem speed is again possible .

Atm: running 10*300 with 133 divider which is all gives fine and even numbers and low latency:

3000mhz cpu , memory 200mhz , timings 2-2-2-5 1T .

As far as cpu's go, all I've ever heard and all I can repeat is that it's all "luck of the draw"... always wondered when I'd get lucky.

Just got this 3700+ from newegg.com, ADA3700DAA5BN kab2e 0551epew, popped it in and she memtested perfect all the way to 2.71GHz on stock voltage... guess it was my time?

Seems this one is an E4 stepping. I understand the same as the FX. You may have an E6 stepping?
