KaollaSu Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 New low price for this card on New Egg. I got it on sale previously for $299 so this is a new low. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130256
Redbeaver Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 bad idea IMHO. get the 7800GT CO which is the N517-AX, not N516. They got copper heatsink and hand picked ram chips to make sure it runs stable at 470. they overclock higher too. $299 last time i checked. they were priced lower than the 516 for some weird reason...... KaollaSu Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 The card works perfectly for me. Hmmm.... I guess I must have another eVGA7800 Model because mine is factory clocked at 470/1100 and Newegg shows this one at 445/1070.
Redbeaver Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 oops sorry. the N517 is factory clocked at 470 not 460.... so yes, u have the N517. u can see the sticker at the back of ur card. the 516 is clocked at 445/1070 and was $300+, which is odd, where the 517 with higher clock was $299. KaollaSu Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Ahh yeah I have the CO which is currently priced at $314.00 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16814130249 Newegg had the 7800GT CO for sale one day at $299.00 which is when I pounced. But still the 7800GT for $295 still isn't a bad deal. Going to change my sig
WeEatDeadPeople Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Dont buy it. http://www.evga.com/community/messageboard...47&whichpage=13 I am experiencing the same problems. Artifacting right out of the box at stock speeds (or lower, much lower even).

I have the 517 running 13.7B bios, mines clocked at 470. It doesnt play games at all : EDIT!: sorry, I looked, i have the p2 n516. stock clock was 470, ponder on that one

Hmmm.. see mine even says on the box "copper heatsink" did something get whacked out in configuring this batch ro something? my serial # is def a 517 tho, i will check the board right now. editx2: did some more digging and found this post Originally posted by: WTThis is almost certainly a Jetway board with the usual NF4 trimmings. As far as comparing it to the top two NF4 boards out, the DFI and the Epox, it will not perform better than either, but it is a good price. Also, be aware that there are four different EVGA 7800GT cards out, with the numbering scheme being 515,516,517 and 518. The 515 is what is offered in this bundle and it is clocked the slowest compared to the rest. So asssuming $299 for the card, then this board would be akin to paying $40 after rebate for an NF4 board. If you need a good board, then this is a worthwhile deal. If you want flat out performance, then skip this and look elsewhere. Either the Epox or DFI with a 517 EVGA card would be a better performer. Here's the EVGA cards: 515: reference cooler, 445/1070mhz 516: GTX copper cooler, 460/1100mhz (some of these are stock clocked at 470/1100 for some reason; both of mine were) 517: GTX copper cooler, 470/1100mhz 518: reference cooler, 445/1070mhz, EVGA SLI motherboard I apparently have the 516 @ 470/1100 wit hthe copper cooler. my case ambient is 29 degrees C, graphics card idles aroudn 40 in 2d mode and its at about 50 c when bf2 screws up bad. Considering the 'threshhold' temperature over 100c... why is this happening? editx3: tons of the exact same issue over on the evga forums. Guess im RMAing my board 8(
