Question for you guys, this but why do all or at least most people here seem to use the TWO CPU voltage controls....CPU VID and the other one just below in the BIOS....

 

example....if you want a CPU with a voltage of 1.45, instead of putting it straight to 1.45v, They put CPU VID @ 1.350 and the other field below which I guess is an over voltage @ CPUVID *104% ?????

 

Isn't it simpler to put the CPU voltage straight to what you want instead of doing calculations??

In regard to your question, though, my answer is this: try both ways. My CPU for whatever reason responds more to the CPU special vid than to just upping the voltage. I've had much greater success with the 110% and 113% than with 1.55 with no CPU special.

Thanks for the table comeupon, however I just wanted to know WHY have two values to come to an exact value if it's much easier to enter the VID alone...

Basically I wanted to know if someone knew the TECHNICAL reason for having two combined voltage calculations instead of a single direct one....

 

Apreciate the table info though....

thats very easy to answer...as you point out...you can just set your voltage to 1.485 or use 1.375 and special vid 110% to get the same voltage.

 

what do you do if you need/want more that 1.55 volts to your cpu? you MUST use it to get volts above 1.55....anything below you can just set it or use the combo....does that answer your question?

Because some people find their system more stable using the vid control than using the same voltage at the "direct" setting. This hasn't been substantiated. Again, search the forum there are several threads on this.
