Boot up problem - Cmos checksum error

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I got a new rig, installed everything and was working fine. Looking on the DFI site I saw some updated bios drivers, one of which involved a dual-core performance fix. So I update my bios, everything goes fine, says update was successfull. However, when my comp had to restart, all I got was a dark screen on my monitor, with the power light blinking on and off. I restart once again, and I hear 2 beeps, 1 long and 1 short, and my monitor doing the same thing as before. So I figure I should reset the CMOS, I do that and I'm able to boot, however I see a "cmos checksum error-defaults loaded'.

Now, everytime I want to boot have to reset my CMOS, how can I fix this? I tried all older BIOS versions on the dfi site with no luck.

The DFI says that 1 long and 1 short beep means DRAM or Motherboard error, I dont know what this means because everything worked fine before I updated my bios.

Use the 623 or 704 bios from tmods cd for the bios factory here on forum. And do a longer cmos clear as posted here:http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...04&postcount=24

Check leds :

Here is the way to read the Diagnostic LEDs.

4 LEDs on = Power applied

3 LEDs on = CPU has been detected OK

2 LEDs on = RAM has been detected OK

1 LED on = VGA has been detected OK

0 LEDs on = System has booted to the Operating System.

As long as you are in the BIOS including running memtest from the BIOS option, there will be one LED on.

If you are getting 3 LEDs on, it means the rig is having trouble detecting the RAM.
