sumasage Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 As mention in the subject, i will be buying the DFI UT nF4 SLI-DR board but i dont know which is a good memory brand to buy. The rig will be use daily stuffs, gaming, and some multimedia tasks. Current i am not planning to overclock but might be in the future. I am looking for 1 gb of ram (2 x 512MB) that is about $100. Please give me your recommandation and why. Thanks.
Sorrento Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Hmm, lots of good brands out there. OCZ might be the best choice, since their user support is the best one and their RAM is 100% compatible with DFI boards. G.Skill is really good, might be even better than OCZ... BUT, they don't have anything close to OCZ's user support. Corsair, well these are ok I guess. I have a couple of modules from them too, and have ok support and everything. I believe each of these and a couple more manufacturers have 1 gb (2x 512mb) packs available for less than $100 dlls at Newegg.com. If you know what you are looking for latencies and DDR speed then its just a matter of choosing brand. Good luck
RGone Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I just told NewEgg etailer to sort all 2x512 for LESS than $100.00 and did NOT see anything that came up as "known" to work. However sorted again for 100 to $200.00 and these here 'used' to be the #1 MOST recommended ram in the forum. Just only 2x512 and most are going 2x1gig. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227211 RGone...
Smoken Joe Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 OCZ has great support I cant say I have ever seen it like before in the memory field. not every stick is going to work well with the DFI but that would be there version of value ram and avoid all of that unless it is a specal case. Personaly I would recomend you save up untill you can buy quality ram and PSU or not get the DFI. If you hunt you can get good memory cheap but it likly wont have much support if any and it can be hit and miss.

Just wondering why you didn't consider them worth trying. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227220 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231012 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820141152 Maybe these last ones (PQI) would be problematic, but the OCZ's and G. Skill's look ok to me... do they have issues with DFI or nForce4 motherboards??? Just wondering, they are quite cheap... hehe, that always make me suspicious.
