New Rig components

I am wanting to get this new MOBO, but I have heard that there are some compatability issues with certian memory and PSU. Wondering what the optimal configuration is with this motherboard, and then memory and graphics and psu.

Also am going to get the Opteron 170 w/ 1.5lbs of copper for the heatsink.

I had an aspire 680 watts active psu, but a power outtage fried my old system so I might as well upgrade as well.

I would like to have 2gb of memory that can handle overclocking (duh).

any help would be appreciated.

Many recommend the OCZ Powerstream 520

Look around for table configurations with what you want, theres a lot of them. You'll need to go near the end to find some that include the Expert board.

What is the best DFI motherboard out right now for socket 939, is it the expert or some other board?

In theory, yes (although Angry may disagree).

If you don't want SLi, but do want to OC with all the "leg-work" already done by others, AND if MONEY is an issue for you - THEN I'd think most would recomend the Ultra D.

There seems to be a "cold boot" problem for some with the Expert.

RGone seems to think its due to how some Experts "latch" on start-up with some power supplies (I think!).

This only seems to plage SOME with the Expert, though.

Do a search for RGone's recient posts. He has recomendations for Expert PSUs that may help.

Also, all DFI boards have a LOT of BIOS options (and the Expert even more).

These can do two things:

1) Allow for a higher - stable - overclock than other brands without these options.

2) Let the novice user get really screwed-up, frustrated, and confused!

Do take advantage of all the great guides here, as well as posts and the OC datebase (which shows how others managed to get to their best stable OC).

Hope this helps, but there are no guarantees in this OC stuff - just a lot of fun.

Wondering which memory would work best. I am wanting 2gb of memory. As well as being able to over clock well.

I will have either the Opteron 170 or 175. Probablly 175 assuming it would be easier to overclock (recomendation on which one). I have the THERMALRIGHT XP-90C and then the VANTEC TD9238H 92mm which blows 119 CFM. I will also be getting the BFG 7800GT, and a 74G Raptor, with two WD 320gb Sata 3. Wanting all of this to flow together smoothly. Also Power Supply is Antec NeoPower NeoHE 550.

Which is better Lower Cas or Higher speed for overclocking?

Great suggestions, couldn't say it any better! If you're getting a new video card i would hold off on it until March. The G71's are going to be out next month which would be a stunning performance gain compared to the TOP NOTCH ATI R580's i think. Just like Lowboy says, stick with a lower Opty since they will overclock about the same and save yourself some money for a better PSU or memory even. Just looked at a review of 2GB memory kits which can overclock pretty damn good. There is a pair of OCZ 2GB sticks that can hit around DDR560 1:1 ratio as well since they love voltages as always. Also look at the pair of G-Skillz 2GB kit. The test board that they are using is the Ultra-D from DFI, so go figure.....
