Rcynic Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I am getting ready to O.C. my rig, and tbh I am a total newb when it comes to this. So my first question is, Do I need to update my bios? From what I have read on these forums, this only needs to be done if it fixes a specific problem... and I don't have any problems unless the next question is one. Originally posted by THunDA from THE DEFINITIVEDFI A64 OVERCLOCKING GUIDE LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio (Ram Ratio) to 100(Mhz)(1/02) I can't find this setting in my bios.^^ Is it called something else, or just not included in this version? As you can see, there is no setting for a frequency, only a multiplier...Also, the first setting (after Auto) is 4x(highlighted in pic) and I was under the impression that it could be set to a value such as 2.5...Here are some pics of my screens. So, I am assuming that this bios will not work for overclocking... Is this correct? Thanks in advance for the advice Rcynic
KimTjik Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Have you read the OC-guide? See link: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20823 Study that guide first. I think that's a better option than explaining separate settings now, since you ought to get the whole picture.

KimTjik Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Actually that is where the quote came from. I have a basic understanding of what he says in it, but I can't find that bios setting he is refering to. Rcynic LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio (Ram Ratio) to 100(Mhz)(1/02) Second picture, first setting "DRAM frequency set". The options might look differently depending on which BIOS you have, but there should be listed different dividers to use. 1/02 means that RAM is running on half the FSB bus frequency. The highlighted divider you show in the first picture has to do with the CPU. "FSB bus frequency" will serve as a reference for both CPU and RAM, but they might then be adjusted, RAM as described in the first paragraph, and CPU with the "CPU/FSB frequency ratio" highlighted in your picture (CPU speed = "FSB bus frequency" * "CPU/FSB frequency ratio". I hope this help!
ebonyblade Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Ok in your Bios the first setting in the Genie is the Dram settings. The first setting in there is the Dram Freq. ratio. It's not in the main Genie settings it's in the Dram settings.
