Upcoming games and x64 optimization... ?

So, I realize that most current games dont really use any of x64s extra goodies, and run similarly (but often 5fps lower across the board compared to XP 32's scores) with XP32 for most cases, but...

What games if any actually see a gain in x64? Does anyone know when games announcing this will be hitting shelves? Anyone know if stuff like elder scrolls oblivion will support x64? Or any idea when it will be actually beneficial to make the switch?

My system shall arrive tomorrow morning and Im not sure which windows to install

also as a footnote:

I am getting a raid 0 setup using the nf4 raid.. Do I need to use a floppy drive to be able to install XP onto it? And damn, I dont have a floppy =P

i've experimented with XP x64 a little- found it to be a much quicker OS than the 32 bit version. was actually quite impressed with startup time and quickness of operation. then i loaded Battlefield2. wouldn't play at all. back to 32 bit!!! also- it was a pain trying to get simple things i.e. antivirus, utilities, and other programs to run, even though it was supposed to!

i don't think there will be a mainstream switch to 64 bit until vista is released. even then i plan to wait awhile, let everybody else do the beta testing(i know- they're supposed to be doing that already!!!).

anybody else remember when XP first came out? what a fricken nightmare that was! heck- same as the switch from 95 to 98!

i'm feeling old now i'll quit!

i'll stick with the 32 personally- untill my games require it- or they make a real OS that will run both 32 and 64 apps.

don't even bother with Windows XP-64

MS is putting all of their time and effort into Vista 32-bit and more importantly, Vista 64-bit...and along with Vista comes a completely new driver model which SHOULD make things better (XP was much better with drivers after it matured a little than all the previous OS's were).

By the time Windows XP-64 is mature enough to even be considered, we'll all be switching to Vista so my personal opinion is for now, I'm sticking to 32-bit XP since everything I need plays/works just fine
