Firestorm ZERO Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Due to the tasks I am doing (video editing, etc), I need dual-core now. But have a hard time choosing. I leave my computer (rig 1) on 24/7 so stability is kinda of an issue. I also never overclocked before. And I heard that my ram is not good at overclocking anyway. So which cpu should I choose? The X2 series or FX-60. I hear people raving about the opterons though. Should I get those instead?
finagle69 Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 get whatever's cheapest for the same speed and L2 cache. you'll realize no difference getting an Opteron over an X2 or vice versa. don't get the FX60, that's overpriced and unnecessary. i'd recommend either the Opteron 180 or the X2 4800+ Toledo. they're both the same speed and have the same amount of L2 cache, but he X2 is about 100 bucks cheaper. EdLSmith Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 I'm sitting here with an FX-57, FX-60, Opty 170 and what am I havung fun with? A Opty 146. This little baby is tearing it up. I get so used to those darned 300 to 600 MHz OCs that when something comes along with a 1.1+ GHz OC, wow! Go for some fun.
