BrIONwoshMunky Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Ummm... I know this sounds like a strange request, but is there a way to enable the BSOD to show before a Windows system crash? I've recently installed Prince Of Persia: The Two Thrones, and while loading the first menu, my computer crashes, into a reboot. I suspect I should be getting a BSOD, but one never shows. Sorry for my newbness in advance. My system specs are in my sig, and I just updated my video card drivers to 81.95 from the XFX website. There are currently no patches for Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones from the ubisoft website at least. Thanks all. I've researched the problem a bit on the game's forums, and there seems to be probems with users and the X2 family of processors. I can play the game, if I have a game loaded in the background strangely enough.
Bladeblunter Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 If you right-click on the My Computer icon and select Properties, click on the Advanced tab then click on the Settings button under Startup and Recovery. Remove the tick from the Automatically Restart box. That should then allow you to see the BSOD. Cheers BB

HITandRUN Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 It doesn’t necessarily have to be a BSOD. Not every pc crash is a BSOD. You rig crashes when you start up the game and when it uses a lot of memory. It could be memory related! Check the timings and the setting on your memory. Are you over clocking? Wasn’t there a different BIOS for the 4400+? Do some research on this!
Kilamon Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Have you tried using Runfirst? http://www.activeplus.com/us/freeware/runfirst/
Guest YuKoN Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 i've also heard of others having video issues with the newest 81.95 drivers. maybe revert back to an older set? sounds strange but another guy had multi(like psychedelic)colored trees with that set of drivers. I would try maybe the 81.82 or older. if theres no issue there you can always put them back!
BrIONwoshMunky Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Thanks for the replies guys. The BSOD was video driver related, and as such, prompted me to install new drivers 3 times. Two times, with newer drivers than I had installed, it yielded the same results, a BSOD, and then a reboot of the system. Finally, I installed the 78.01 version that's recommended in the readme file. Imagine that reading the instructions actually made my game run correctly. :tooth: So, long story short, my game runs now, and I've already beaten it. -(on easy difficulty)- Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones = good game BTW
ixtapalapaquetl Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 To enable BSOD's on Microsoft operating systems, all you have to do is install. You should then get BSOD's all the time. *sorry; thought for sure someone would have beat me to this one*
BrIONwoshMunky Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 he he, yes, but you can't see the BSOD's all of the time in XP Pro at least, you actually have to enable them or they won't come up it'll just reboot your computer.
