Redbeaver Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/m...tegory_Code=OCZ OCZ Gold XTC $235 http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/m...tegory_Code=OCZ OCZ Gold $215 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ctCode=83433-26 Mushkin Xtreme Performance $215 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ctCode=85017-30 Corsair TwinX XMS4000 $224 Well? i guess my personal favourite is the XTC, but its also the most expensive lol and that honeycomb heatspreader might be abit overrated...... ps: im aiming to get it to run at 257Mhz. 7Mhz overclock isnt too much to ask int it? thats what the divider gave me on my 311x9 oc. i think getting a ram that run 1:1 at 311 is just asking too much lol
lowboy Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Gold XTC or mushkin
ludeboy12 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 The gskill extremem series are nice too.....only $197 also.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021
Redbeaver Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 may i ask why u recommend the Mushkin other the "normal" Gold OCZ and Corsair?
Redbeaver Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 @ludeboy, that is my most preferred memory, however i luv in f**kin canada and new-f**kin-egg doesnt ship to canada........ *ehm* sorry bout that...... well yah, see my other post on where can i find a shop that sells g.skill that sends to canada? sorry i didnt mean to be rude lol but i really2 want that memory and i cant get it here unless i pay $400+ (anitec.ca has them). i dont think so. after shipping+tax+convert to canadian $$, all four kits above cost less than $300Cad. G.skill @anitec is $369 before tax (15%). my fav. brand maker is ocz anyway, but the best prices is still from US stores (that ship to canada of course), which is the above fourRAMs. so those are my options. only options. so unless anybody can recommend other 2Gb good quality dual-channel DDR500 memories thats under $240US that ships to Canada, naturally, please limit your recommendation to the 4 options above. Thank you. again guys, im being a jerk here coz im frustrated, but not against any of you, and i really2 thank you all for replying here. Redbeaver Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Alrite, im SO close on grabbing the XTC, but i got another offer.... the G.Skill!!! yes, the G.skill 2Gb kit DDR500. However, including everything, their price is the same wit XTC. which one should i get??? XTC Gold or G.Skill for about $250, or OCZ 'normal' Gold for $235? Angry_Games Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 all the memory is going to be almost exactly the same (since they are all basically made with the same memory IC's) so your more important question should be "who offers the best support?" my personal opinion is OCZ...and that is evidenced by the fact that there are 2 normal OCZ employees that help DFI users here (AndyOCZ and RyderOCZ) as well as 2 more that come around sometimes if needed (TonyOCZ and MarcusOCZ). OCZ always has our boards, and we always have their RAM, and we all communicate regularly on skype or msn etc...and if you check the Stock Speed Database and the Overclocking Database, you'll see probably more entries for OCZ memory than any other
Redbeaver Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 i was torn between before u post, coz many seems to have very high oc with G.Skill. All I need really is somethin that can clock to 257Mhz, coz thats what the divider gives me on 311Mhz on the HTT. 7Mhz isnt too much to ask isnt it? so anything that runs 257 with the best timing would be best I think. and Ive always been happy wit OCZ, so I think i'll grab the XTC. btw, is the XTC overrated or that new type of honeycomb actually works? its $20 more expensive... oh well, im gonna put a poll in the polling section to see what people prefer
jcmusic Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 This board has quite a bit of buzz concerning the GSkill, but if you read the newegg reviews a LOT of people say they are waaay to hot. I got the Mushkin last week to replace my OCZ plat rev.2's (see my sig). I couldn't get 4 sticks to OC at all. I'm not a skilled OC'r, but I went from 2.55 stable w/ 2 sticks to stock speed w/ 4 sticks. Can't comment on the 2GB kit. The Mushkin PC4000 is great. I'm bumping it up slowly and doing BF2/F.E.A.R./Prime95 as I go. I'm up to 2.4 so far... I'm very happy w/ the mushkin RAM.
Redbeaver Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 thx Jc, I have a similar thread on the polling forum, and indeed, mushkin seems to be the winner so far.... too bad theyre still out of stock if u click on the link lol Platinum, eh? i got the Performance series and it primed at 234 lol. 257 works as well, played BF2 and 3dmark just fine, but wont pass prime beyond 6 hours.... i guess im lucky Question: ur at 2.4, whats ur FSB on them?
