Where to put Compunurse temp probe???

So i got a couple of Compunurse :

http://www.adpmods.com/case-modding/LCD-Di...ght-p-1525.html

and i put 1 on the chipset, 1 on the CPU.

the chipset reports an idle of 42-ish (vchipset 1.6) and load around 45.5. the compunurse reports every 3 seconds.

I placed the chipset sticking on the bottom of the chipset stock heatsink/fan whichis aluminium.

i placed the probe for the CPU sticking (im sure it sticks, i put some Arcticalumina) on the bottom of the heatsink of the BigTyphoon, on top of the upper side of the socket; the one with the little elevation where the hinge of the locking lever is.

theres a little space between them so i put it there, becoz the probe cannot be squeezed. (i tried squeezing it between the IHS and the heatsink, it broke.).

it reports 26 idle, and 32Celcius LOAD! i mean...... i kno the BigTyphoon is a performer, but my vcore is at 1.650V, FSB@311x9=2.8Ghz.

now i dont think even watercooling can hit that point...

Ambient temperature is around 24C (i like it warm), i swap the 2 compunurse, they report the SAME, i even stop by radioshack to get one of those temp probe for home/food? i touch many things along with the compunurse probe and they report the same (within 0.5C)! But i can only touch the side of the bottom heatsink wit the radioshack probe coz its a fat metal stick...and it reports load temp at 31!

soooooooo

im 98% sure the compunurse isnt broken, but i just dont think the bigtyphoon is that cool! yes i touch the heatpipes while priming and if i concentrate real hard, i can feel its getting abit warm lol.

so i think my conclusion is the compunurse probe is not located at the correct spot.

thus the title.....

so where do you guys would put your temp. probe?????

Thanks!!

ps: sorry no pic, my bro borrow my digicam :(

Know you see why most people don't bother with temp probes as there not reliable because of placement issues and software. Who cares what the side or bottom of HS measures the thing that matters is the chipset temp.

chipset u means the NF4 chipset? that one stick very well on the chipset and reports well.

u mean CPU chipset ? howd i do that?

the thing is, i NEED this probe. I have an infintiy sli board which incase u havent notice, NONE of the software can read the correct temps. Except Ntune which reads pretty close but still off by 5-7Celc. and DFI still cant update a bios fix for us, infinity users.

i cant have that. i dont kno my CPU temp.

i need the probe........

If you put any probe between any chip and the heatsink the heatsink will not work correctly. Think about it ,why is there TIM to help fill in micro size holes and cause better heat covection between the two if you put a probe which is huge in relationship between the two the hHS will work like crap even if you put enough grease to slop it on.

exactly my point of making this thread.... i dont wanna squeeze it between the heatsink and the IHS becoz:

1. it'll reduce performance

2. it'll break the probe.......

so im asking u guys, where should i put the probe for best conductivity?

becoz i need the the probe for the same reason; i have an infinity board....

for u guys that actually have a thermal probe, where do YOU put ur probe???

Thank you :)
