divided Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 so installed my vc-re and nv silencer today. and wow. my chipset temps havent passed 39 running prime for a few hours and my graphics has never ran cooler. it lowered the case temp as well since the exhaust on th card throws the air outback. the vc-re fit just fine. required a little bending, but great fit. i had more problems getting the damn stock cooler off. i couldnt push the "teeth" through the board, so i just cut it off. o and even though it doesnt list it, the nv silencer 5 rev 3 FITS the 6800 gs. Guest Dynamic Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Congrats! How much voltage are you feeding your chipset, default 1.5 or over? Yeah, i was thinking about buying that EverCool VC-RE to replace my stock fan on the chipset as well. I think i'll hold off on that and this weekend i'll take the chipset off again and see if i can scrape the plastic tape off the bottom and add some Artic Silver 5 to it. Yeah, i remember when i had my ATI 9800XT AGP (old fart, lol) and by replacing the stock heatsink with the ATI Silencer 3 made a major improvement with air. BTW, nice overclock on the GS, wonder how you scored in 3DMark 05/06?
divided Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 im running the default voltage on the chipset. and my video card overclock was hindered my my old temps ~78c load. so now since it is so much lower im going to see if i can push it more.
