New Hardrive Advice

Blew up 2 Maxtor Diamond Pro's 10 in the last 6 months you know the simptims a hard reboot out of knowhere and from that point on windows starts to degrade to the final death rattle

 

The company is shipping a brand new (no referb) 300 gig replacement which will probably just be a bigger & newer piece of crap but in the meantime I am looking for new hardrive suggestions.

 

And yes I know Maxtor has compatability problems thats why I am entertaining hardrive suggestions.

What are you running and how do you like it?

I don't run anything but Hitachi's anymore.

Hitachis are great bang for the buck. So are the WD's 250gig SataII 16mb buffer. $115 at Newegg.

I am a great fan of the Samsung Spinpoint drives, I picked them up when I was looking at the Hitachis for a Raid array and haven't been disappointed.

 

Also I've had these Western Digital 320GB drives for almost a year now and haven't had any problem with them either.

 

Neither of the above drives seem loud to me, thats probably a matter of opinion but with all my fans turned down I really can't hear them even when accessing 5 at a time.

This board should take a poll on how many people has had trouble with maxtor drives and post a sticky note on the results. I know the one on power supply help me choose one. But we still have people writting in here with PSU problem. At least we can give them the link to the PSU list.
