gkar Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Hi, I recently built an HTPC for which I want to network to my desktop PC. I have had major issues getting it to work. I am using the LTD 6.00 PD dated 6/14/2004 BIOS. At various times when pinging, I have had error code 65. Also, response timed out. I have been able to get it working, then when I try to copy across the network, it will disappear saying the network is no longer available & I can't get it back. I have attempted to uninstall problematic programmes such as Zone Alarm. I have even tried to reinstall my initial Ghost image to no avail. I have had to disable 'show limited connectivity box' in network properties. This is the case with both LAN connections. Both show up as correctly configured in device manager & connected in network connections. According to posts here I have 'Advanced Configuration And Power Interface PC' which should not cause possible network issues. I have tried re-entering my MAC address in the CMOS. Have tried updating my Realtek 8110S drivers from their site. I tried to update my BIOS with the latest DFI one from their site. It states to include a set of switches but am unable to complete as the command line in the awdflash.exe won't allow the final two characters (/CC). Any ideas or should I just go & get an NIC? If so, what's point of buying a mobo with LAN.
Clay Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Have you tried flashing from bootible floppy? Or using "Tmods" bootible cd? DOS will give you lotsa room for switches.(Floppy) And "Tmods" has all the switchs allready in. In the bios factory section you'll find his thread. Download the ISO burn it to a cd. Yer' ready to flash the bios. allways remember : "The following procedure is a must for non corruption on your Bios Rom: After a Flash unplug the power cord to the computer to completely power down. Clear the CMOS jumper for 30 seconds. Power the computer back on, and immediately go into the BIOS and choose "Load Failsafe Defaults" or "Load Optimized" Save and Exit. Immediately after reboot, go back into the BIOS and configure your setup how you like." (Copied from Loggans Faq.) (I myself don't know much about Lan-drops. But I do know sumptin' about bios flashin'.) Good Luck. "Clay"
king of nothing Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I am using the LTD 6.00 PD dated 6/14/2004 BIOS. Not to be dumb or anything....... but what is this? I tried to update my BIOS with the latest DFI one from their site. This shouldn't be a problem if you include the switches from the command line. Have you tried using the nvidia lan?
gkar Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Thanks for the fast responses. King Of Nothing, Not to be dumb or anything....... but what is this? This is how WindowsXP System Information describes the BIOS. This shouldn't be a problem if you include the switches from the command line. That's the problem; I can't complete the necessary switches using the command line within Awdflash  Have you tried using the nvidia lan? Yes. Similar Issues, though I have not been able to get networking at all. Clay, Have you tried flashing from bootible floppy? Yep. That was how I tried to update the BIOS before: Boot into DOS with a 98SE boot disk, then awdflash.exe into the update programme. Or using "Tmods" bootible cd? It would take too long to D/L with 56K modem Thanks for the reaffirmation of the final boot procedure when I finally get to update. Also, When I resume from a hibernation state I cannot load ANY pages on the internet: I have to reboot. All pages come up with 'cannot load page' errors
gkar Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Upon reviewing my setup I discovered the HAL on my HTPC was installed as ACPI Uniprocessor PC. I updated the HAL to the recommended one in the first sticky using this thread http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...8&highlight=hal I have not had a chance to redo my network settings. Will Keep you posted. Hopelfully with a resolution.
