po43292 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Hi, first time posting here. OK, so I've had the system in my sig for 4 months now, and I haven't had any problems at all with it until last week. I was getting some random crashes especially on games, but other random times as well, blue screens with various messages, etc. I've always used the BIOS that supports the x2 processor, I think it's the 7/23 one? I downclocked my overclock back to stock at 8 x 250. Video card back to stock speed. Prime failed after a few minutes on one core of my 3800 x2, the second core failed 2 hrs later. Memtest showed errors at first, but after reseating my ram it showed none after a couple hours. My temps are great. Really sick of the problem I decided to try to just reset the CMOS hoping that somehow would fix any mobo issues I may be having. After moving the jumper and then putting it back a few seconds later, with the power supply disconnected before touching any jumpers, it wouldn't boot back up into the BIOS. Took out the ram, vid card, sound card, cpu, and reseated everything. Still no BIOS. And that's where I am now. Did clearing the CMOS remove the BIOS or cause it not to post at all? I get no video signal at all to the monitor. And there is no windows "sound" during boot up either. Do I need to try to boot with the floppy that contains the BIOS? Is my mobo bad? CPU gone bad? HELP?
lowboy Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I would say do the overnight cmos clear and do it exactly as it says here:http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...04&postcount=
po43292 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 if I do all that, will it keep the BIOS I had on there?
lowboy Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 You will loose settings.
po43292 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 i don't care about losing settings, that's cool. By "start button" does that mean power button to drain the capacitors?
lowboy Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 You got it. Good luck!

po43292 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 after searching these forums longer, i found out that i had 3 diagnostic led's on. I think one of my ram sticks is the culprit. It finally at least booted and I got a BIOS after switching to only one stick in DIMM2. The other one wasn't working in that slot. Now I have 1 LED, what's that mean? po43292 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 nevermind, it's the VGA detected LED.
