Two ram slots defective? I don't know.

Recommended Posts

My screen is black when I boot up with ram in the first two slots closest to the cpu. I can tell Windows has loaded due to the tune that plays when you log on. I have tested both ram slots with three different sticks of ram. I believe it is a defective motherboard, I'm posting here to see if you guys think so too. The other two ram slots work with all three sticks of ram, however my computer will randomly reboot if I put fill both slots up.

Exactly what slots are you talking about. Is it the orange and yellow slots farthest away from cpu. That would be single channel mode you will have to find timings that may alway you to use that memory as these boards are not designed for sub par memory. Suggest you to get some good memory you may get what you have to work and you may never get it to work.

I previously stated the slots closest to the cpu do not work :)

I'm using Hyundai ram, and Samsung ram. Pc2700, 2.5 3 3 7 timing, voltage unknown. They have given me no problems in my other four systems, one of wich was a DFI General 865pe. Do you suggest I buy more common name brand ram to test? Ok, yes you do... I suppose that is easier than RMA'ing the board.

The board is not designed for the slots nearest the cpu to work unless the other same colored slot is filled .Dual channel ! These boards are pickey on ram and yes it is better to get known good ram that work in these boards. Sorry that is just the way it is.
