VoodooChile Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Hi, I'm a new member to DFI Forums as I've recently purchased the DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR Expert (very happy with it), and I saw AG's initial build pictures where he positioned the XP-90 with the heat pipes closest to the first PCI-e slot and the fins overhanging the DIMM slots. Well, as you know, with the expert, the DIMM slots are to the left of the cpu socket instead of above it, so I was wondering if i should still position my xp90c the same way or would it be more beneficial to have it overhanging the dimm slots on the left and have the heatpipes run to the right? what you all think? Durhamskin Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I just installed the XP-90c in my system just a few days ago and I let it hang over the dimm slots. it fits no prob so don't worry about your ram not being able to fit. VoodooChile Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 well the main reason i ask if it would be ok to position it differently so that it does not hang over the dimm slots, in case i wanted to take them out or add another 2gigs? KaollaSu Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Install it with the fins overhanging the dimm sockets and the heat pipes towards the PCIe sockets. Just like AG's guide. You get an added bonus of having the active cooling for the memory.
Guest Modulok Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 yeah, nice BIG heatsink...i was worried about it fitting in my small case. [ultra mid tower at the time] It fit regardless...but I got a bigger and better coolermaster case now...opening a door to turn on, restart, and access drives is so overrated.
