Error Loading OS - trying to install w/ raid-0

Recommended Posts

ok, i just installed my AMD x2 4400+.

so since i had these two (identical) sata drives i wanted to raid them together.

so i go through the raid setup in the bios, everything is enabled w/ sata 1, and 2.

i have them both running Stripe.

i run winxp pro setup, hit F6, and install the 2 original raid drivers on the floppy disk.

find my raid drive, formatted and copied data on the drives...

...restart... "error loading operating system."

so i tried to find another thread on here with the same problem, someone said use the new nf4 raid drivers. but to my luck VERY new drivers were online from 1-27-06. downloaded them, installed them the same. but still get the same error, and i cannot find out what may be wrong...

i'm stuck.

any ideas?

thanx!

Try unplugging your other hard disks and make sure any jump drives are out of the usb slots.

Also might wanna specify in the BIOS where you want to boot off of, you'll have to change that again when you plug in the other disks probably.

yes, memory is just fine. i ran memtest before trying to install.

i tried specifying in the BIOS which to install.

i tried my C: disk first, but then i also tried my raid sata drive first. both get me the same error.

if i do unplug the other disks... (they're 2 IDE)

if it does install... then i replug i the other disks...

won't that change my drive ID numbers, and screw up windows anyways?

ok, prob solved. perfect running and windows installed!

plugged back in the IDE's and they were assigned higher letters... so no probs there.

after looking for boot disks, windows pops up in under 2 seconds flat!

i think i'm going to enjoy this...

thanx again guys!

:D
