sound-tekkie Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 If i go over 2.4ghz i get an error message, my multiplier is currently 10x, divider 188, i think it might be my ram, not sure, can anyone confirm that?
KimTjik Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 If you're trying to find out the CPU's max set the divider to 1/2 - just as recommended in the "AMD overclocking guide" - to make sure RAM don't interfere. In that way you can concentrate totally on settings affecting the CPU.
sound-tekkie Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 It doesnt matter if i set it to half, if i set it to half it doesnt go to xp pro load upscreen
KimTjik Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I remember you had some problems before also; does your system behave in the same way? I've seen some posts about folks getting problems using some of the dividers - personally I've never experienced something similare - so if that's a true scenario, what happens if you chose next divider around 140, does it help or the same thing repeat itself? sound-tekkie Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 neah my system doesnt experience that problem any more, it does however hang on a black screen for a couple of minutes before showing the xp load up screen which i think is to do with the cd drive that i have put in to replace the other corrupt one till i can afford to buy a new one. i will have a go at the 140 divider
sound-tekkie Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Didnt work, it got to the bit jst before DMI Pool..... Update Sucessful is supposed to come up but it stops jst before that bit and reboots  Edit: I tried all the dividers
KimTjik Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 If you in Bios go back to your original settings, not overclocked, does your system then work, or something has got corrupted in your attempts to overclock? And on what vcore do you now run?
sound-tekkie Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Yer my original settings work  Edit: i didnt read that you wanted the vcore, but the volts from MM5 say 1.
KimTjik Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Ok, if those settings work it's at least more or less a question of tweaking. If you now set the divider to 1/2 will it work? And can you now from there by following the "AMD overclocking guide" step by step increase the CPU speed? At least try, because maybe you did some misstake, or maybe you missed some important piece of information in the guide. (Now it's to late for me, I have a work to take care of tomorrow)
Dave_Sz Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I'm guessing you opty is one of those that only works with a few dividers, not all of them. Did you try the ram on the 100 divider, the lowest one?
bp1019 Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I have my 146 at 2.8ghz @ 1.44 Vcore and the Ballistix on a 188 divider running DDR 508. What stepping is your 146? Have you tried any other RAM or RAM memtest when OC'd?
Joni_R Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Seems, that my opty has same issue about dividers. I can boot to windows with all cpu speeds I've tried, but prime fails with anything over 2500MHz, because my merory isn't capable to handle those speeds with acceptable dividers. So only 5:6 and 2:3 dividers seem to work for me... If I set divider to 1:2 (or almost anything else than those two mentioned above) memory fails in memtest and prime... Max for my mem is around DDR450.
