Importz55 Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Hey guys i know this is a little off topic for this forum however I just recently purchased a Zalman VF700 ALCU heatsink/fan for my videocard. Im 41 deg idle and reaching 80 degress at full load when i run the find artifacts test on ATI tool. Is this an acceptable temperature with a brand new heatsink/fan for the vid card? Thanks
Torch Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 My Card temps are 40°c Idle and 63,5°C Load stockcooling 80°C little bit high imo
Importz55 Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 hmmm i've i can't figure out why the temps creep up so high...anyone else with this card experience anything like this
danmer3 Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 My temps on my overclocked card is 547/621 on the stock fan and my idle temps is current at 33c. Will post temps at full load after some COD2 gaming. Jay
SirWankusMagpie Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I have an overheating issue as well, but no artifacts i am looking into GPU coolers and so far the arctic cooler seems the best....although im open for suggestions
Hawk454 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I am running x800 GTO (12 pipelines maxed, bios flash did not unlock the other quad) but have had severe temperature issues that I had to seek extreme cooling methods with. I was running 73` Celsius in BF2 at stock settings so in order to overclock i needed to get those temps down. I used a paper prototype chamber to surround the video card. I opened the PCI slot covers in the back of the case and placed an 80 mm fan @ 4500 RPM's (noisy) to blow the hot air out. I could immediately tell this was working so I re-made with acryllic sheeting. I used the idea of Arctic Cooler solution to vent hot air out of the case but did this on the low budget with supplies I already owned. My final resting temps at stock timings are: Video GPU internal sensor: 44` Celsius in BF2 Stock timings w/ original heatsink Video GPU internal sensor: 39` Celsius in BF2 Stock timings w/custom heatsink Video GPU internal sensor: 54` Celsius in BF2 Overclocked timings w/custom HS Here is my short work log: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41049
Scott P Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I have an X850XT. When running ATITool and stock cooling, it got up to 90 C. I now have an Arctic Silencer on it. It runs in the seventies now. I only have it OC'd to 573/600.
coldpack Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I just got a x850 PRO agp today. It idles at 42c and loads at 71c. I think 80 is a bit high, maybe try re-applying some thermal paste.
soundx98 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 You are fine. Could be cooler, but fine. May want to check airflow through the case. sounds kind of weak. Enable temp logging under settings in ATI tool and check the box for fan at 100% when you are there. If you set GPU to sensor 5 and GPU env to Sensor 6 in the same section you can monitor the reading in MBM5. ATITool has a log file in it. Set the settings to read every 5 sec instead of the default 10. DL the MBM5 program and Data file and you are good to go. Click the link for MBM5 settings under my sig. Branjo Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Yeah sounds like bad airflow in your case, what thermal paste are you using? I read that the difference between the AlCu and Cu is around 5 degrees C but 80C seems very high to me. what were your temps with the stock cooler? SirWankusMagpie Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 well i got good airflow in my case as of this moment and im having the same issues... OCing the video card gives me a 10-15% decrease in performance and my temps during game play make it all the way up to 85 deg which for me...just aint cool right now i can go to the store and buy a Zalman wachamajigger and get that but is it worth getting an arctic 5 rev
ridikolous Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 i put one of those blower fans underneath my vidcard with the vf-700 to exhaust hot air out from the bottom of my case that no hot air gets traped underneath the corner with my vid card..
