Problems with Booting

Recommended Posts

Just built this new computer (spec's in signature) and I have been having boot problems with it. Plugged it into AC outlet, flipped the switch on the PSU and pressed the power button on the computer and it booted normally. However, after turning it off again it would not power on again when the button was pressed even though the standbye orange LED on the Mobo was on as well as the DRAM light. Tried to press the button again and nothing. Flipped the switch on the PSU to cut power to the mobo and turned it back on, pressed the case button again and it powered up. I thought this was strange but maybe it was the case switch so I tried using the power button directly on the motherboard but had the same results sometimes it would power up sometimes not.

So then I replaced the PSU b/c i read in here that despite what the manual said you need atleast a 480W psu with 12v @26a, so i bought a 500W antec with the necessary voltage. Now it will power up more often than not but sometimes it still wont power up. I noticed this morning trying to get it to power up that it seemed my bios setting got reset b/c my clock in windows reset and it was trying to detect hardware that I had already installed. So I replaced the bios battery but I am still having the same boot problems. I am at a complete loss any help you could offer would be apprieciated.

I agree, should be moved.

I dn why you guys allways post in the nf2 section lol, not a huge deal though :).

Sounds like to me an overheating issue.

Or bad psu.

I was thinking that antec would be ok on the nf2.

But when I saw your sig, a nf4...

Probably not cool, I'm not found of antec's anyways.

On a nf2 is would just be ok I think.

On a nf4, it could be trouble, but whatever I guess.

Flucuating rails...

Look it up, not on this site though, everyone here like the antecs and even recomends them...

Good luck dude :).

Check the contact between the cpu and heatsink 1st.

Maybe it's mounted wrong.

Check all your connections, ie re-insert everything, including the cpu.
