Boosted420a Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I've been getting random crashes in my NFSU2 game. So I went back and started my overclock all over. I'm not shooting for an insane OC, just want to be as fast as an FX60. So I set up my ram and run memtest86 overnight. No errors, so I thought my ram wasn't the problem. I then ran two instances of Prime95 and set it to 'small FFT s (maximum FPU stress, data fits in L2 cache, RAM not tested much)'. It ran overnight for just over 9 hours without any errors. So, right then I tried the 'In-place-large FFT s(Maximum heat, power consumption, some ram tested)'. Core 1 which is the stronger of the 2 fails almost immediately while core 0 keeps on going. But then something odd happens, I get a Windows error message and shuts down the instance of prime that is still running. and leaves the prime on core 1 that failed open. So If I'm getting errors with some ram being tested, then is my ram possibly the cause for the failure? I checked MBM5 while running that test, and it appears that it doesnt get too hot. It doesn't even get over 36C. And the voltage fluctuates a little bit on the 5volt rail, but its a slight drop from 5.05volts to 5.02volts. I'm not sure what is going on.
